Clinical Application of DJ Ureteral Stents
What is a Double-J Stent?
The ureter is a muscular tubule connecting the kidney and bladder. A DJ ureteral stent is a device inserted into the ureter to provide support and internal drainage, maintaining or restoring ureteral patency.
A DJ stent has one end placed in the renal pelvis and the other end placed in the bladder, the both ends looks like a pig's tail, which make the stent remain in place.
Practical Applications of Double-J Stents
1. Postoperative Support in Urology
(1) Stone Surgery: after minimally invasive surgery for kidney stones or ureteral stones (such as percutaneous nephrolithotomy or ureteroscopic lithotripsy), placing a double-J stent can prevent postoperative edema, blood clots, or stone fragments from blocking the ureter, reducing the risk of stenosis.
(2) After Ureteral Reconstruction or Anastomosis: after ureteral stenosis repair or kidney transplantation, a double-J stent is needed to support the anastomosis to prevent secondary obstruction caused by scar contracture.
2. Relieving Urinary Tract Obstruction
(1) Compression by Stones or Tumors: When the ureter is compressed by stones or tumors (such as bladder cancer, prostate cancer) Compression leading to acute hydronephrosis: Double-J stents can temporarily drain urine and protect kidney function.
(2) External pressure obstruction: When tumors of adjacent organs compress the ureter, double-J stents can be used as a palliative treatment.
(3) Congenital or secondary hydronephrosis: For example, hydronephrosis caused by ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) or neurogenic bladder, double-J stents can temporarily relieve hydronephrosis and create conditions for subsequent surgery.
3. Control of urinary tract infection Infectious hydronephrosis: When urinary tract infection (such as pyonephrosis) requires adequate drainage, double-J stents can assist in the drainage of pus and reduce the risk of systemic infection.
1. Advanced Hydrophilic Coating
Our independently developed hydrophilic coating technology significantly enhances surface lubrication, facilitating smooth insertion and reducing patient discomfort. The coating also minimizes urate crystal adhesion and biofilm formation, stabilizing surface pH levels to extend indwelling time and improve patient comfort.
2. Superior Material Properties
Crafted from medical-grade Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU), the stent softens at body temperature, offering enhanced flexibility and reduced irritation to the ureteral wall. This material ensures high biocompatibility and durability, supporting effective long-term drainage.
3. Optimized Design for Clinical Efficiency
Plum-Blossom Side Holes: Strategically placed drainage holes improve flow efficiency and reduce the risk of blockage.
● Radiopaque Markers: Ensures clear visibility under imaging for accurate placement and positioning.
● Crimp Rings: Professional molded rings prevent stent migration, providing reliable fixation.
● Tip Options: Available in both open and closed tips to accommodate varied clinical practices.
4. Comprehensive and Convenient All-in-One Kit
Each kit is thoughtfully designed to include all essential components for efficient stent placement: a hydrophilic coated ureteral stent, hydrophilic guidewire, pusher, straightening pipe, and clamp. Optional nylon thread attachments are available for added clinical flexibility. This integrated setup streamlines the surgical process, reduces preparation time, and ensures reliability across a wide range of procedural scenarios.
